Zoja Jewelry — Chromatic Scale Wall Installation
This bespoke installation was designed to create a striking visual backdrop that reflected the brand's appreciation for craftsmanship, detail, and transformation.
The objective was to develop an installation capable of capturing attention from a distance while rewarding closer inspection through texture, movement, and subtle visual discovery.
The piece explored the relationship between movement and perception. Constructed from hundreds of individually placed paper scales, the work transformed a flat wall into a living surface that appeared to shift and change as viewers moved through the space. The scale motif was selected for its ability to generate complexity through repetition.
Each individual element was colored differently on either side, creating a chromatic transition that revealed itself only through changing viewpoints. As observers moved past the installation, subtle shifts in angle exposed different color fields, causing the surface to appear animated despite being entirely static.
By combining material simplicity with sophisticated surface behavior, the installation demonstrated how paper can be used to create richly dynamic environments that respond to light, perspective, and human interaction.
