Mpact — Wildlife Event Installation
Commissioned by Mpact for a themed corporate event, the project involved the design and fabrication of a series of sculptural paper lighting installations and performance accessories that would celebrate Africa's natural heritage while showcasing the versatility and creative potential of paper as a material.
A series of illuminated paper lantern structures was developed using both natural brown and white paper stocks.
Each lantern incorporated multiple layers of carefully cut forms representing African grasses, indigenous flora, and iconic wildlife. Through tiered construction, the installations created a sense of depth and perspective, with foreground and background elements interacting to form miniature paper landscapes surrounding the light source.
To extend the visual narrative beyond the décor itself, a collection of bespoke paper masks and performance headpieces was developed for the event performers. These included interpretations of birds, butterflies, and other nature-inspired forms, designed to animate the conservation theme through movement and live performance.
The resulting works functioned simultaneously as décor, lighting, sculpture, and performance objects, creating a memorable event experience that aligned closely with the themes of conservation, craftsmanship, and environmental appreciation central to the project.
