Clarins — Sea Lily Event Installation

Commissioned by Clarins for a brand event, the project involved the design and fabrication of a large-scale sculptural interpretation of the Sea Lily.

The installation was required to function as a striking focal point within the event environment while embodying the qualities often associated with the Clarins brand: elegance, lightness, refinement, and a close relationship with the natural world.

Rather than pursuing botanical realism, the project sought to create a heightened interpretation of the flower. Particular attention was given to the relationship between visual weight and structural balance. The connection between the stem and flower head was intentionally designed to appear impossibly slender, creating a subtle tension within the piece. This exaggerated proportion encouraged viewers to question how the sculpture could support itself, drawing attention to both the craftsmanship and the materiality of the work.

The aim was to create an object that felt simultaneously delicate and monumental, celebrating the inherent qualities of paper while echoing the elegance associated with the Clarins aesthetic.

Careful engineering allowed the dramatically slender connection between stem and bloom to maintain both structural integrity and visual lightness, creating a sense of improbability that became central to the work's impact.
